Erika Mennerick, DC, Cert. MDT
Erika Mennerick, DC, Cert. MDT graduated from the National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) in April of 2005 after having completed her 2001 Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN and her 2003 Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from NUHS. After opening her private practice in rural Elburn, IL in 2005, Dr. Mennerick has continued to utilize hands-on chiropractic adjustments, functional movement assessments, nutritional counseling, and lab testing as the foundation for her patient’s care. Dr. Mennerick served as part-time faculty at the National University of Health Sciences 2007 – 2014 teaching a variety of courses including pediatrics, pregnancy care, male and female health, adjusting technique, emergency care, and chiropractic listings. She is a certified Motion Palpation Technique provider as well as a certified Webster Technique provider for pregnancy. After extensive continuing education and exam, she obtained her 2013 certification in the McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® (MDT), recognized around the world as “an active patient treatment philosophy that emphasizes prevention and intervention, and encourages patients to be in control of their own treatment.” Dr. Mennerick is an instructor for the Motion Palpation Institute where she leads seminars on adjusting technique, biomechanics, and functional assessment. She supports the American Chiropractic Association and the Illinois Chiropractic Society as a member.
In her free time, Dr. Mennerick can be found enjoying the woods of local Illinois and Wisconsin forest preserves on her mountain bike, cross country skis, kayak, or running shoes. Dr. Mennerick, Tom, and their two young children enjoy cycling together and exploring new places. To balance out a busy life, Dr. Mennerick chooses yoga and reading to decompress. She draws on her personal experience to help her patients create balance in their own busy lives.

Kevin Shimer, DC
Kevin Shimer, DC graduated from National University of Health Sciences in April 2018 with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. He started down his path towards the healthcare field after serving 4 years in Army with the 82nd Airborne Division. Upon completion of his military service, he went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2012. After having worked as a medical assistant in a primary care physician’s office as well as a dialysis center, he was introduced to chiropractic medicine’s holistic approach and decided to pursue a future as a chiropractic physician.
Dr. Shimer joined Trillium Health & Wellness as associate chiropractor in 2018, but had spent the previous 2 years working as an assistant of Dr. Mennerick while attending chiropractic school. During that time, he also completed additional course work in McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization, and functional rehabilitation courses.
Dr. Shimer has a passion for treating musculoskeletal conditions and utilizes a classification based approach to ensure that proper treatment type is directed towards each condition. He values when patients take an active role in their treatment plan, and he places a strong emphasis on the importance of patient education so they better understand their condition.
In his free time, Dr. Shimer enjoys time with his wife Melissa, their daughter, and husky or can be found in the garage covered in sawdust enjoying his passion for wood working.
